Subgroups:
. All stroke subtypes benefit.
. Both mild (NIHSS<7) and severe (NIHSS>15) stroke patients benefit.
. Elderly (>75 years) as well as young patients benefit, but there are little data in the pediatric population.
. Patients with early ischemic changes on CT still benefit if they meet all other criteria.
. Time to treatment is the key to an improved chance of recovery.
Patients treated earlier are more likely to respond than those treated at the end of the 3-hour time window.
Therefore, time is brain!
